The Best Sources For Holiday Turkey and Other Meats

New York is rich with excellent butchers.  Year-round we can buy top quality meats, poultry, game and specialty meats at all price levels.  But these merchants really stand out when it's time to shop for holiday ingredients or something for a special meal.

Here are New York's best butchers.  See our merchant database for more information, address and phone numbers for each of them or just click on a name in the column on the left side of the screen.  If you want something special or specific for a major meal, it is always best to call in advance.  For Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's essential to place an order or else you may be shut out of what you want.

Want to know more about buying meat and poultry?  Listen to our podcast conversation with Jacob Dickson of Dickson's Farmstand Meats.

Prices and specialty items vary.  We've included two superb producers, Quattro and Flying Pig Farms, that are Greenmarket merchants that take advance orders that you pick up at their Greenmarket locations, and a third, Dickson Farmstand Meats, which sells at two farmers markets.

Our list also includes two kosher butchers.
