Bridge Kitchenware, a popular store for home and professional cooks and bakers since 1946, is closing their store on East 46th Street and Third Avenue. The reason given is that the owners wish to have more time with their family and thus will relocate to New Jersey and continue to sell on their website.
The store will close "sometime" in June, according to people who work in the store.
Since not everything will be moved to the new location, a few items are on sale. But these are mostly odd pieces of ceramic cookware and some knives. But if there's something you've been meaning to buy at Bridge, go soon, or else you have to pay internet shipping charges.
Another New York institution passes. The good news is that we still have other locally owned and resourceful cookware and kitchenware stores that continue to serve the New York marketplace, including Broadway Panhandler, Zabar's, New York Cake & Baking Distributors, and A Cook's Companion. Let's help keep them here.
