Upper West Side Fish Stores

One is well established, the other is new.  But Manhattan's Upper West Side is lucky to have two excellent fishmongers.

Bobby Santangelo at Broadway Farm

New at Broadway Farm, at Broadway and West 85th Street, is a full-service and well-priced fish department, run by Bobby Santangelo who used to run the popular fish market at Jake's.  After Jake's closed, to the disappointment of many Upper West Siders, Bobby took some time to explore his options.  His new space at Broadway Farm opened a few weeks ago.  It has a large glass window that faces the street but you enter his shop through the main store.

There are pre-cut fillets, shellfish, whole fish that can be cut to your specifications, and an ever changing selection that depends upon what Bobby thinks is perfectly fresh, including wild, organic and farmed.  Bobby will also cook your fish, including steaming whole lobsters.  Prices are very good and they will deliver.

Joon's Westside Fish Market

Too many Upper West Side residents don't know about Joon's.  Located on Amsterdam Avenue at West 98th Street, Joon's has been serving the neighborhood since 1986 with fresh fillets and whole fish, shellfish, fried fish and sushi.  There is also a selection of grocery items to help you cook your seafood.  The service is warm and friendly and if you shop there twice you'll feel like a regular.

Need something special?  You can order in advance.  And there's free delivery in the neighborhood, Monday through Friday.
