Zeytuna is a small chain of markets and take-out food that's owned and operated by Amish Market. The selection and services of each Zeytuna will vary with location.

What's great:

The store at 59 Maiden Lane is very large, located above a huge lunch/pizza/salad bar operation that probably feeds lunch to half of Wall Street. The upstairs store is a grocery oasis for the growing downtown residential community because it has an outstanding meat and poultry selection, including free-range chicken and duck, a fish department with whole fish and live lobsters, a beautifully kept separate room for produce, full grocery selection, bakery products, a deli and many prepared foods. Given the monopoly this store has in the neighborhood, the prices are quite good.

The store at 17 Battery Pl. is much smaller and has a limited meat, poultry and fish selection.

What to know:

While the stores have large cheese selections, everything is pre-cut and wrapped, so buy carefully since you can't taste them and there's no way to know what state they're in. The store at 17 Battery Pl. also has a large pizza and pasta station for take-out.
