Amish Markets are often located in neighborhoods that have few choices when it comes to groceries.

What's great:

The stores usually have a solid produce department, some fresh meat and poultry, cheese and dairy, a deli, and a selection of grocery items.  You can buy pasta and grains, nuts, dried fruit, some baking products (certainly sugar, flour, basic spices), good quality imported items like olive oils and vinegars, and bread and pastries.

What to know:

The selection and services will vary with each store.  Cheeses are pre-cut and wrapped so choose carefully.  Amish Markets also owns and operates similar stores called Zeytuna.
