Bazzini is best known for its paper sacks of pistachios and other roasted nuts which they sell through other fine food stores. But the TriBeCa shop also is a full service market with a very active take-out business at lunchtime for the office workers with offices along Greenwich Street.
What's great:
Roasted and raw nuts by the pound as well as already bagged. The market is a valued resource for the neighborhood that has few alternative for good grocery items. Its meat department sells Bell & Evans chickens, prime meats and sausages; the fish deparment has organic and wild fish and shellfish, plus smoked salmon and whitefish. There's a large produce department plus an excellent cheese and charcuterie selection, much of which is cut to order. The grocery department is ample with olive oils, baking items, and many other popular ingredients.
What to know:
The take-out food includes one of those choose-your-mix-ins salad bars and prepared sushi. The lines at lunchtime can be impressive.
