Old fashioned East Side bakery that's been in the neighborhood for over 80 years. Loved for their Jewish bread and rolls baked in brick hearth ovens.
What's great:
Traditional Jewish breads that are increasingly hard to find. These include black pumpernickel, Challah, marble rye and European potato bread with a crisp crust. Other breads include semolina, whole grain, and Irish soda. Sweets include cookies, donuts, decorated and 7-layer cakes, babkas and brownies.
What to know:
The shop is located mid-block on the side street with what appears to be an original tile floor and white painted wood shelving. They sell kosher breadcrumbs. Their allegen-free selection includes wheat-free rye on Thursdays and salt-free breads on Wednesdays (white bread) and Saturdays (rye).
