One of New York's best sources for all kinds of cookware and kitchen tools.  After many years on SoHo's Broome Street, last year the store moved to a new space on East 8th Street between Broadway and University.  Their location may be new but their approach to selling cookware hasn't changed.  They offer very competitive prices and a deep selection on the big stuff, like pots and pans, and the small things like vegetable peelers and thermometers.  They carry most of the top brands and are particularly knowledgeable about knives.

What's great:

Their knife selection is probably tops in the city.  They carry most brands and if there's a brand they don't sell, they'll give you the reason why.  The salespeople actually know something about knives and can help you make the right choice for your needs.

What to avoid:

This store is best for cookware and kitchen items.  If you're looking for stylish dishes, glassware and other tabletop items, their selection is limited so you can do better elsewhere.

What to know:

In addition to selling knives, the store also sharpens them.  You need to drop your knives off for a couple of days (no, you can't wait while they do it), but they do a very good job for a good price.
