A small but very resourceful wine shop on the Lower East Side specializing in Italian wines run by Gabrio Tosti di Valminuta, a very charming native of Rome, who hand selects each wine sold in the store.
What's great:
These are specialists which means they really know Italian wines both in depth and breadth. Owner Gabrio has enormous enthusiasm for what he sells and he loves to help his customers get better educated and make perfect choices, at every price level, giving advice either in the store or over the telephone. The wines are well presented and organized by price, making it easier to make a choice.
What to know:
There are some non-Italian wines, including chilled Champagnes. They offer a 10% discount on 12 bottles or more on certain wines (call for details). Free delivery anywhere in Manhattan for orders $200 ore more, otherwise there is a $15 delivery charge.
