Food News: Institute of Culinary Education Moves To New Home
Manhattan's Institute of Culinary Education, which seems to be forever trailed by its parenthetically noted and much friendlier former name (Peter Kump's), has moved from West 23rd Street to a new and much bigger location in Battery Park City.
This popular culinary school is a NYC treasure. Founded by Peter Kump who gave lessons in his kitchen, it has been teaching both pros and amateurs how to cook for nearly 40 years.
The new facility is more than twice the size than its former Chelsea location, and has the state-of-the-art equipment to teach folks how to cook the foods we want to eat in more than 1,500 classes per year for we non-professionals.
As much as the Institute tries to be known by its initials, ICE doesn't have the charisma of its founder's name. Still, ICE is a place that welcomes folks who want to not only cook but eat as it also hosts private events, like parties in which the guests make their own dinner.
See their website for more information and a list of upcoming classes.
