Bridge Kitchenware first opened its east side Manhattan cookware store in 1946 but closed it in 2008 explaining that the current generation's management had young children and so were heading for the more convenient suburbs and the Internet. If you can't get to their East Hanover, New Jersey store, their website is an excellent alternative.
Just like they did for 62 years in Manhattan, Bridge is still an excellent resource for the home cook offering just about every tool you need to equip a kitchen in the city or anywhere.
Their inventory is both deep and wide. Prices are very competitive, especially if you keep in mind that these are top quality tools that will last you forever. Excellent source for parchment paper.
What to avoid:
If you're looking for certain brands, such as All-Clad, you won't find them here. Even though they don't have the brand caché, don't automatically rule out the lines that Bridge does offer in their stead, including Paderno's stainless steel pots and pans.
