Guss' Lower East Side Pickles

Guss' Lower East Side Pickles

Lower East Side
85-87 Orchard St.
Between Broome/Grand Sts.

P: 212.334.3616

Since 1920, Guss' Pickles has made anything that can be put in a brine and sold it from barrels set on the sidewalk on Orchard Street.

What's great:

Barrels of pickles, olives, sauerkraut, sweet kraut, horseradish, sours, half-sours, capers, mustard, relish, plus pickled peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic and more. Pat Fairhurst and her son, Roger, work the barrels and can guide you to what will make you happy. The spicy pickles are really robust so be prepared.

What to know:

This Lower East Side Store is the original, the authentic, and the truly great Guss' Pickles. While another pickle company also uses the name Guss (and there's some dispute about it all), all you need to know is that this shop is the original and the great Guss' Pickles. Guss' is also the store portrayed in the film "Crossing Delancey" which made being a pickle-seller sexy. Closed on Saturdays.
