The Interview: Robert LaValva and New Amsterdam Market

New Amsterdam Market is a vision to create a year-round, public food market in one of the public market halls left vacant when the Fulton Fish Market left Manhattan's seaport in 2005 for new facilities in the Bronx.

Robert LaValva is the Director of New Amsterdam Market and he talked with us about the traditions of urban food markets and how a permanent indoor public food market will bring sustainably produced food, sold by purveyors and sourced regionally, to those who live, work and visit New York City.
