Chelsea Market

between W.15th/16th Sts.

P: 212.633.9090

An Italian market on the lower level of Chelsea Market complex that sells cheese, charcuterie, a huge selection of dried pastas, and other grocery items. Prices are very fair.

What's great:
This is a place to find unusual items that can be essential for certain Italian recipes, such as bottarga, which is pressed fish roe, and different kinds of anchovies and canned tuna.  They also sell excellent quality canned tomatoes at very good prices.

What to know:
Many of the cheeses are pre-cut so if you want something specific or special, talk to the folks behind the counter at the rear of the store.  Many of the brands of pasta and canned goods are Italian and some may be unfamiliar to U.S. customers.
