It's incomplete to describe Union Market merely as a grocery store because every item they sell seems to have been chosen for the best quality, flavor and satisfaction.  It's a wonderful market.

What's great:

Their five stores have full-service butchers with meats, poultry and game (including Murray's chicken and D'Artagnan duck and game), fresh fish, extensive cheese departments, produce, charcuterie, more than 10 kinds of olives, their own sauces and fresh pastas, dried fruit and nuts, and a bakery that has breads and pastries from some of the city's best producers like Tom Cat and Sullivan Street.

What to know:

Union Market was created by and is run by former managers of Gourmet Garage and it shows that these guys know what they're doing.

A new store in Crown Heights is scheduled to open in 2021.
